Coinbase launched Agentic Wallets as the first wallet infrastructure built specifically for agents, equipping them with autonomous spending, earning, and trading capabilities with built-in security guardrails. The x402 protocol, already battle-tested with over 50 million transactions, enables machine-to-machine payments, API paywalls, and programmatic resource access without human intervention. The next generation of agents will monitor DeFi positions automatically, pay for their own compute and API access, and participate in creator economies.
